GRAVENHURST, ONMuskoka Brewery has announced the return of its annual winter seasonal beer, which will be available this year in both a freshly brewed standard edition and a vintage aged version – although which one you’ll be able to get will depend on what province you’re in.

The standard 2013 edition of Winter Beard Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout – an 8% abv strong stout made with “roasted dark chocolate malts, real cocoa, 70% dark chocolate, and freshly harvested local cranberries” – will be available at liquor stores in Newfoundland, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. In Ontario, it will be available only at the Muskoka retail store in Gravenhurst.

The rest of the brewery’s home province won’t be completely left out, though, as a special Vintage Brew edition of Winter Beard is being released via the LCBO. This limited release features bottles of Winter Beard from 2012 that have been cellar aged for a year, during which “the complexities in the beer have continued to mingle and mature in the bottle resulting in a premium taste second to none.”

Vintage Brew Winter Beard is available now at select LCBO outlets, retailing for $13.95 per 750 ml gift boxed bottle. Pricing and availability of the standard edition of Winter Beard will vary by province.
