TORONTO, ONAmsterdam Brewery has announced details of the release plans for the latest in the Amsterdam Adventure Brews series of limited edition one-off and seasonal beers.

Barrel Aged Double Tempest is an amped up version of Amsterdam’s Tempest Imperial Stout, brewed with double the malt and double the hops of the original, and aged for 9 months in Five Roses bourbon barrels. The resulting 15% abv and 115 IBU imperial stout is described as being “full of dense chocolate and deep malt flavours with a rich, long candied bourbon and oak finish.”

On Saturday November 30th at 1:00 PM, the limited run of Barrel Aged Double Tempest will go on sale exclusively in the retail shops at the Amsterdam Brewery in Leaside and the Amsterdam BrewHouse at Harbourfront in Toronto. It will retail for $15 per 650 ml bottle, with a limit of 4 bottles per customer.

Those who buy 4 bottles will be given a voucher that can be exchanged at the BrewHouse for a 3 year vertical tasting flight of Tempest Imperial Stout, featuring samples of the 2011, 2012 and 2013 editions. In addition, a number of rare Amsterdam Adventure Brews and collaboration beers will be available in the retail store and on tap at the BrewHouse, and chef Avaughn Wells will be serving a special food menu inspired by the Adventure Brews.
