CALGARY, AB – Since opening nearly 2 years ago, Calgary’s Village Brewery has made a point of fostering close relationships with other businesses and individuals in its community, and its latest beer serves as a great example of the good things that can be brought about by having such a strong community-minded approach.

Village Gardener Community Minded Ale is a new limited edition beer created using 100% locally sourced malt and hops, with the latter ingredient being especially local. In addition to using part of the hops harvest from co-founder Tim Duffin’s farm, it also features hops grown in the backyards of several Village Brewery fans in Birdgeland, the Calgary neighbourhood where the brewery is located.

Released in a strictly limited run of 1200 1 litre mini-growlers, Village Gardener will be launched today (November 20th) at the brewery, and will be distributed soon to select liquor stores in Calgary. A portion of the batch has also been set aside for a special fundraising event for the Calgary Horticultural Society that will be held soon.
