MISSION, BCMission Springs Brewing has announced a limited bottle release of its most recent seasonal beer, as well as plans for a brewery expansion that should allow for larger and more frequent bottling runs in the future.

Available now in 650 ml bottles at the Mission Springs retail shop and select liquor stores in the Lower Mainland and Sea to Sky area of BC is McLennan’s Scotch Ale, a robust winter seasonal that was described as follows when first released on draught in December:

Pours dark ruby/brown with a tawny head that lasts & lasts. At 8% ABV, this Wee Heavy ale is chock full of toffee-caramels and smokey-leathery undertones. Hints of tobacco, burnt sugar & roasted malts can be found throughout. Incredibly smooth with just enough hop presence to provide a wonderfully balanced ale.

Regarding the limited scope of the release and future expansion plans, Mission Springs head brewer Kevin Winter explains: “We are primarily a tied house, so the majority of our liquid stays within our pubs here in the Valley or in our tap houses in Seoul, South Korea. However we do try to release bottles on occasion to keep interest ‘brewing’ locally as much as possible. Our brewery expansion this Spring to include 8 outdoor 36HL vessels should improve distribution on all levels, so look for more Mission Springs products soon at your very own local bottle shop.”
