TORONTO, ON – The Canadian wing of Scotland’s Innis & Gunn has announced that the 2014 edition of the spring seasonal Irish Whiskey Finish will be available soon in most of Canada.

“Ireland is known throughout the world for producing great stouts and Scotland is famed for its whisky,” says Innis & Gunn founder and brewer Dougal Sharp in a press release. “In making Irish Whiskey Finish, we have flipped the two Celtic nations on their heads and produced a stout made uniquely from Scottish malts, which we then mature over Irish whiskey-infused oak.”

Due to a shortage of Irish whiskey casks, this year’s edition of Irish Whiskey Finish has been brewed using Innis & Gunn’s “Oakerator” process, in which the beer has been aged for 60 days in steel conditioning tanks with the addition of American oak that has been soaked in Irish whiskey. The resulting beer is described as follows:

A rich, complex brew, Irish Whiskey Finish delivers a smooth and velvety finish that lingers on the palate, the dark chocolate and coffee flavours from the stout marrying perfectly with the honeyed spice of the whiskey and the vanilla from the oak.

Innis & Gunn Irish Whiskey Finish will be available in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario and Saskatchewan. Price will vary by province, starting at $3.25 per 300 ml bottle.
