CHARLOTTETOWN, PECBC News reports that recent rule changes implemented by the P.E.I. Liquor Control Commission will allow restaurants on the Island to sell locally made beer, wine and spirits for take-out.

Under the new legislation, customers will need to purchase and eat a full meal before making the alcohol purchase, and beer sales will be limited to 12 bottles or cans, with wine and spirits being limited to two bottles each. Hours for the sales will be 9:00 AM to 12:00 midnight, which are longer than the business hours of PEILCC retail locations.

The story reports that the new rules went into effect on March 1st, but it’s not known how many establishments have applied for the new license that is required for the take-away sales.
