TATAMAGOUCHE, NS – The small Nova Scotia village of Tatamagouche will soon be home to a namesake brewery that is being founded by a family known for their long involvement in the province’s wine industry.

As the Truro Daily News reports, Tatamagouche Brewing is the newest endeavour of Hans Christian Jost, a winemaker who sold his family’s Jost Vineyards in 2012, and started plans for the brewery early last year.

Along with his wife Karen, daughter Christiane, and her partner Matt Kenny, Jost is setting up the brewery in two buildings in the village – a former library purchased just over a year ago, and an adjacent butcher shop acquired a few months later.

The Josts and Kenny hope to have the facility up and running by May or June, and will initially offer their beer on draught only, with on-site growler sales for individuals. Details on what beers will be available are still to be confirmed, although Christiane tells the paper that they intend to launch with three core brands – a pale ale, red ale and a stout or porter are all being considered – with seasonal beers to follow later.
