COOPERSTOWN, NY – While it won’t be available to Canadians in time for this weekend’s 4th season premiere, the latest Game of Thrones inspired beer from New York’s Ommegang Brewery is expected to be released in several provinces soon.

Brought into the country by Horizon Beers import agency, Fire and Blood Red Ale is a 6.8% abv spiced ale that is described as follows:

Fire and Blood has a deep, dark red hue with a persistent, creamy off-white head. Aromas of ripe fruit, raisins, malt and slight spice, followed by a slightly floral and spicy hop character. A fruity, sweetish malt taste gives way to faint drying provided by the hops and rye. Underlying flavors of raisin and prune from the ancho chilies give way to a balanced malty and spicy finish.

Fire and Blood was released on March 31st in the United States, and is available with three different labels, each one depicting one of the three dragons – Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion – owned by the character Daenerys Targaryen on the show.

Canadian release dates and distribution details for Fire and Blood have yet to be confirmed, but according to an announcement from Ommegang, the beer is expected to be available in British Columbia, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
