Crowdfunding Campaign Launched for Prodigal Sons Brewery

WINKLER, MB – Two neighbouring grain farmers in southern Manitoba have announced plans to open a craft brewery on their farms, and following the lead of several other recent brewery start-ups, they’re looking to crowdfunding to help raise money for the project.

As explained on the Prodigal Sons Brewery campaign page at Indiegogo, founders Toban Dyck and Derek Trinke both returned to their family farms near Winkler, Manitoba in their 30s – a coincidence that presumably inspired the name of the brewery.

The pair has been putting together plans for the brewery for more than a year, and are currently brewing pilot batches on a small Sabco Brew Magic system. They hope to raise $20,000 to assist in building a full-scale brewhouse, and are offering various incentives for donating, ranging from stickers, clothing and glassware, to brewery and farm tours, and the chance to help develop and name a beer for release once the brewery is in operation.
