Canadian Breweries Take 7 Medals at 2014 World Beer Cup

DENVER, CO – The winners of the 2014 edition of the biannual World Beer Cup were announced this past weekend in Denver as part of the closing event of this year’s Craft Brewers Conference. Presented by the Brewers Association, the competition featured 4,754 beers from 1,403 breweries representing 58 countries.

Among the 94 style categories, Canadian breweries were honoured with 7 of the 281 medals that were awarded, including the following:

Category 19: American-Style Brett Beer
Silver: Juxtapose Brett IPA, Four Winds Brewing, Delta, BC

Category 23: Wood- and Barrel-Aged Sour Beer
Bronze: Co-Hop V – Rouge de Mékinac, À la Fût, St-Tite, QC

Category 51: German-Style Pale Wheat Ale
Silver: Belle Gueule Hefeweizen, Les Brasseurs RJ, Montreal, QC

Category 54: Belgian-Style Witbier
Silver: Cheval Blanc, Les Brasseurs RJ, Montreal, QC

Category 61: Belgian-Style Tripel
Silver: Steamworks Blitzen, Steamworks Brewing, Burnaby, BC

Category 67: Ordinary or Special Bitter
Bronze: Butler’s Bitter, Niagara College Teaching Brewery, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON

Category 75: Sweet Stout or Cream Stout
Gold: L’Exploité, Brasseurs du Monde, St-Hyacinthe, QC
