GANANOQUE, ONGananoque Brewing has announced that construction is now complete on its long-in-the-works brewery in the town of Gananoque’s historic Bell Tower building, and while approval is still pending for on-site brewing to begin, the doors will open to the public this weekend.

From June 27th to July 1st, the facility at 9 King St. E. will be open from 12:00 noon to 8:00 PM daily for free hourly tours (which must be reserved online), and guided beer tastings for $5 featuring five Gananoque brands – Naughty Otter Lager, Bellringer IPA, Shiver Eisbock, Rhubarb Witbier and Electric Ale – that are currently being produced under contract at breweries in Niagara and Toronto. Full pints of the beers will also be available to purchase, with proceeds going to local charity Dreams in Motion.

Once final approvals are received from the Canada Revenue Agency and the AGCO, Gananoque will be able to produce up to 1500 hectolitres of beer a year, and will feature a taproom with a 50 foot bar made from wood that has been felled, milled and installed by brewery chairman Scott Peterson.
