TORONTO, ONCanadian Restaurant News reports that the owners of Stout Irish Pub, a popular craft beer bar in Toronto’s Cabbagetown area, are opening a large brewpub in The Danforth neighbourhood a few blocks to the northeast.

Louis Cifer Brew Works is currently under construction at 417 Danforth Avenue, a 4,500-square-foot location that owners Erin Gamelin and Craig Abbott are redesigning to house a 1,000 hectolitre brewhouse, a restaurant/bar, and a retail store that will offer growler and bottle sales, branded merchandise, and beer-infused food products.

Head brewer Christine Nagy is a recent graduate of the Niagara College brewing program who intends to “create a lineup of core beers and then move on to more adventurous creations,” according to the article.

The bar will feature 26 taps pouring around 10 Louis Cifer beers alongside a selection of other Ontario craft beers, as well as a house brewed root beer, and wines from Mike Weir Winery. A beer aging program is also planned for the basement, with a unique glass floor with red underlighting to present “a view into the underworld” from the main level.

Louis Cifer Brew Works is planned to open in mid-September. For more details, see the Louis Cifer Facebook page.
