BAYSVILLE, ON – The first beer to be released in the partnership announced earlier this year between Lake of Bays Brewing and the CFL Alumni Association is set to hit shelves soon, and it will be doing so in a format that is rare in Ontario beer retailing.

Pigskin Pilsner is being released in a limited run of 1.89 litre growlers that have been CO2 purged, giving them a shelf life similar to standard bottled beers. The German-style pilsner clocks in at 5% abv and 24 IBUs, and is described as follows:

Pours crystal clear with a brilliant golden hue and dense white foam. Aromatics are of fresh-cut hay with slight floral notes and the unmistakable graininess that is the hallmark of a traditional German-style pilsner. The mouth feel is light-bodied with a subtle hint of citrus and the pleasant tanginess of Hallertauer hops. Finishes clean and refreshing.

Growlers of Pigskin Pilsner will be available soon in Ontario at select LCBO outlets, as well as in Alberta, Saskatchewan and possibly Manitoba in limited quantities.
