GRAVENHURST, ONSawdust City Brewing has announced the upcoming launch of Saison du Maison, a new series of limited edition saisons that will rotate from season to season.

The first in the series will be Winding Road For 7 km, a rye-based brew named after a road sign that appears next to a back road near the brewery that connects Gravenhurst to Bracebridge. Brewmaster Sam Corbeil describes the beer as follows:

This here “Autumn Saison” is a 7% Rye Saison, brewed with a heapin’ helpin’ amount of rye and fermented with a unique saison yeast strain. It be a nice fortifyin’ ale, loaded with a sturdy, bready malt body and burstin’ with aromas of spicy yeast esters. Brewed to celebrate that special time of year when yer mind is clouded in a fog of melancholy and nostalgia. The burnt yellow hues of the leaves are a stark reminder of the Summer long since past and the actual fog, that sits heavy just above the cold earth, is a haunting indicator of the Winter just ahead.

Winding Road For 7 km Autumn Saison will be available soon on draught at select craft beer bars in Ontario, and in a limited run of cans at the Sawdust City retail store. Corbeil notes that the cans have been “can conditioned”, with priming sugar and fresh yeast added just before canning to give the beer a more traditional style of carbonation.

Next up in the Saison du Maison series will be a red saison, which is being brewed this week for Christmas release, and is expected to come in at 8%-9% abv.
