EDMONTON, AB – The Edmonton Journal reports that the Alberta Liquor and Gaming Commission (AGLC) has changed its licensing structure to allow all breweries in the province to pour and sell full servings of beer at on-site bars and tasting rooms.

Before this change, only breweries that had a Class A license – essentially a restaurant license – were allowed to sell full pints, and only if food was also available. Most breweries have a Class E license – issued to liquor making facilities – which limits them to serving free 100 ml samples.

Under the new rules, breweries can now apply for a Class B license, which allows the sale of full servings of alcohol without the need to operate a full-scale kitchen and bar.
