GRAVENHURST, ONSawdust City Brewing has revealed details of the next beer in its Saison du Maison series of limited edition saisons, as well as info about a couple of other upcoming releases.

The second Saison du Maison offering following last month’s debut of the series will actually be a Bière De Garde – a closely related beer style from France’s northern region – called Le Chandail de Skokie (“Skokie’s Sweater”). Named after the mascot of the Gravenhurst Winter Carnival, the 8.5% abv farmhouse-style ale is described as follows:

This ale is a rich amber biere de garde with a pronounced malt body and a spicy yeast finish. Dry and easy to drink but warm enough to keep them cockles warm during the cold winter months, this beer can be cellared and enjoyed later in the year or drank now as a nice winter warmer.

Le Chandail de Skokie will be available in cans at the Sawdust City retail store in early January.

Also due out soon is this year’s edition of Long, Dark Voyage to Uranus Imperial Stout. Bumped up to 10.5% abv from the 8.5%-9% range of previous years, it will also be released in January at the brewery and select LCBO outlets, selling for $5.25 per 473 ml can.

Finally, Sawdust City brewer Aaron Spinney has once again collaborated with Indie Ale House on a batch of S’more Stout, a strong stout brewed with graham crackers, roasted rum soaked marshmallows, honey and vanilla. It will be on tap later this month at Sawdust City, Indie Ale House and other select beer bars in Ontario.
