TORONTO, ON – Beer writer Ben Johnson reports on BlogTO that Six Pints Specialty Beer Company – the craft brewing arm of Molson Coors Canada – will be closing its Beer Academy microbrewery and events facility on Toronto’s Victoria St. and replacing it with a brewpub off-shoot of the Molson-owned Creemore Springs Brewery.

According to the report, most of the Beer Academy staff have been given layoff notices in anticipation of a December 31st closing date, and the Creemore-branded establishment is planned to open in the space in mid-2015.

For more details, see the full story on BlogTO.

UPDATE: Jive Communications, the PR firm that represents the Six Pints companies and brands, has contacted CBN to confirm the December 31st closing date for Beer Academy. They also note that after substantial renovations, the relaunch is expected to take place in the fall of 2015.

UPDATE 2: Jen Davidson, General Manager of Six Pints, has stated that the location will not necessarily become a Creemore Springs branded brewpub. While that is one of the options being considered, most of the details of the new iteration of the Beer Academy space are still to be confirmed.

  1. This is a much better idea. It’s quite clear the Beer Academy concept didn’t work very well….otherwise it wouldn’t be closing a few short years (if that!) after opening.
