OTTAWA, ON – The Ottawa Citizen reports that the Clocktower Brew Pub has teamed up with a notable nerd culture celebrity to create a special beer for this coming weekend’s Ottawa ComicCon.

Wil Wheaton – aka Wesley Crusher of Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as a popular blogger and avid homebrewer – was put in touch with Clocktower when the brewery asked ComicCon organizers if any of the attending guests would be interested in working on a collaboration for the festival. Wheaton was happy to oblige and provided one of his favourite recipes for a classic German Hefeweizen, which Clocktower brewed and are releasing as HefeWheaton.

“It was brewed with 50% wheat and Pilsner malt with noble hops to bitter,” according to Clocktower brewmaster Patrick Fiori. “It was fermented at the top end of the range which gives it a strong fruity bubblegum flavor and light on the cloves.”

HefeWheaton will be available exclusively at Ottawa ComicCon, taking place May 8th to 10th at Ottawa’s EY Centre. It will be pouring alongside KA-POW! Pale Ale, a Clocktower beer that debuted at last year’s ComicCon, in licensed areas of the event.
