Blindman Brewing Opening This Autumn in Central Alberta

LACOMBE, AB – Prairie beer blog On Beer reports that a “Supergroup” of partners will soon be opening a new brewery in Lacombe, a small city north of Red Deer in central Alberta.

Blindman Brewing was originally envisioned by Hans Doef of the local family-run Doef’s Greenhouses, and his friend & mechanical engineer Dave Vander Plaat, both avid homebrewers. They have since been joined by four other partners – Adam Campbell, Matt Willerton, Kirk Zembal and Shane Groendahl – most of whom have past experience in various areas of the beer and brewing industries.

The group has procured a 4,000 square foot space in Lacombe’s Wolf Creek Industrial Park and are expecting delivery of a 15-barrel brewhouse next month.

Once the brewery is up and running, it will offer three initial brands – a 4.5% abv session ale, a stronger IPA, and a saison – which will be available in kegs, cans and growlers. A pilsner may be added to the brand line-up once the brewery is established, and unique seasonal and one-off beers using ingredients from Doef’s Greenhouses are also a possibility.
