VANCOUVER, BCGranville Island Brewing has announced details of the latest instalment in its Black Note Book Series of limited edition small batch beers, and the first to be developed by recently appointed new brewmaster Kevin Emms.

Van Dame White ISA is a 4.5% abv and 40 IBU wheat beer/session ale hybrid with the following description:

For this brew we chose to combine a traditional Belgian Wit with a West Coast style India Session Ale. We started by making the traditional wit base, and then experimenting with hop bursting (adding all of the hops after the last 20 minutes of the boil). A lot of Ella hops (Australia) went in the whirlpool and then in the conditioning tank (dry-hopping). By hop bursting and dry hopping, we were able to add a ton of hop flavour without as much bitterness, keeping it refreshing and summery. When tasting, you’ll notice the smooth texture of the velvety wheat beer, combined with lemon, herb, and guava flavours dancing with the coriander and orange, and finally finishing off with a big burst of hops.

Van Dame is available now in a limited run of 650 ml bottles at the GIB Taproom and select liquor stores in British Columbia.
