GANANOQUE, ONGananoque Brewing has announced the release of a new beer that is available exclusively at a local Legion in honour of Remembrance Day.

Gananoque Veteran’s Ale is a 5.1% abv and 27 IBU described as follows:

Veteran’s Ale is a North American take on an 80 shilling Scottish Ale. The backbone of the beer is Canadian 2-Row, it derives its toasty accents form VICTORY malt, some bittering from WARRIOR hops with CENTENNIAL hops being used for aroma in recognition of the ongoing centenary of World War I. This beer is deep amber in colour with a moderate, creamy, off white head. It is a clean, malt-forward beer with slight fruitiness, a malt-focused aroma, bread and toasted malt notes, a hint of caramel, and some residual malt sweetness. Moderate body and mouth feel in a well-balanced package and just enough hop bitterness to keep the beer from being too sweet.

Veteran’s Ale was brewed by General Mike Dabros (retired), a member of GBC’s Board of Directorswho served 36 years in the military. The single keg produced was donated to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92 in Gananoque, where it is available now on tap.
