CALGARY, ABBig Rock Brewery has announced the addition of a new beer to its Signature Series of year-round brands, and has revealed more details about its upcoming expansion into Ontario.

Citradelic Single Hop IPA is a 6% abv and 67 IBU ale that was originally developed by brewmaster Jody Hammell at the Big Rock Urban Brewery in Vancouver. Brewed and dry-hopped with Citra hops from Washington’s Yakima Valley, and described as having “smooth citrus and tropical tones”, it will be available in six-packs at beer retailers in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

The brewery has also announced that work is progressing well on its two Ontario facilities – a production brewery in Etobicoke and an Urban Brewery & Eatery in Toronto’s Liberty Village – with both of them due to open later this year. Brewing at both locations will be overseen by Connor K. Patrick (pictured above) who is moving into this position after more than 10 years at Big Rock’s Calgary plant where he worked in brewing, filtration and quality control.

Patrick paid a visit to Lake of the Woods Brewing in Kenora recently, where he collaborated on a sarsaparilla beer called The Stranger, named after Sam Elliot’s character in The Big Lebowski. It is due to be released in February at the Lake of the Woods brewpub, and select bars and pubs in Toronto.

For more details, see the blog post about the collaboration on the Big Rock website.
