KENORA, ONCBC News reports that Ontario’s northernmost brewery, Lake of the Woods Brewing, is putting plans in place to expand both its production space and its product offerings.

President and CEO Taras Manzie tells CBC that the existing brewery is unable to keep up with demand, with canned beers currently being brewed elsewhere under contract. The company is scouting a suitable location for a larger production brewery, with hopes to find a space by this summer.

In addition to a larger brewery, the new location would also house a craft distillery which Manzie expects would produce vodka initially, with whiskey to follow in several years.

In the shorter term, the company will be branching out into coffee roasting and cold brewing, with a plan to have that project up and running within a month.

No firm timelines have been announced for the new brewery and distillery, but Manzie says that “the goal to have a new brewery and distillery open could take two years.”
