CHEMANIUS, BC – British Columbia beer news source What’s Brewing reports that a brewery currently under construction on Vancouver Island has named a veteran of the province’s brewing scene as its head brewer.

Joining the team at Riot Brewing is Fabian Specht, a brewer with almost 20 years experience who was most recently stationed at Central City Brewing where he worked with Gary Lohin, the brewer who originally trained him at Sailor Hagar’s Brewpub in the late 1990s. Specht also spent some time at Howe Sound Brewing between his stints at Hagar’s and Central City, and he plans to continue his dedication to producing “classic, sessionable, flavourful and delicious beer” in his new role at Riot.

Founded by partners in both business and life Aly Tomlin and Ralf Rosenke, Riot Brewing is currently under construction in the small town of Chemanius, roughly 30 minutes south of Nanaimo on the east coast of Vancouver Island. It is scheduled to open this spring, and will feature a tasting lounge, growler station, and a retail store selling beer in cans and 650 ml bottles.
