TORONTO, ON – Folly Brewpub has announced that it will be hosting a brew day tomorrow (March 5th) to mark this year’s edition of International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD).
Taking place each year on or around International Women’s Day (March 8th), the IWCBD was established by the Pink Boots Society, and offers a chance for female brewers around the world to get together and collaborate on developing and brewing a beer.
Folly’s event was triggered when brewer Christina Coady (pictured) started a discussion on the brewery’s website about sexism in the craft beer industry. Many women – some with brewing experience, some without – expressed interest in learning more about beer and brewing, and Coady has arranged for two brewing sessions tomorrow to accommodate all who signed up.
The resulting beer will be released by Folly in April 16th, with proceeds from the launch to be donated to the Working Women Community Centre.
