VICTORIA, BCPhillips Brewing has announced details of the second in a series of sour beers that are being released under the Sour Note banner.

Following on the release of Thorny Horn last November, Sax In The Dark is a 5% abv dark sour ale brewed with grape must, and described as follows:

Born as a medium bodied dark ale, Sax in the Dark is infused with grape must and augmented with lively Lactobacillus bacteria, the magical secret to sour. Pouring a deep mahogany brown colour topped by a soft off-white head, a tangy fruit nose leads to a lively, slightly sharp tartness through the body underpinned with flavours red wine, grapes, and light toast. Finishes puckeringly dry.  This sour brew is proof that sometimes the best notes fall outside of traditional scales.

Sax In The Dark will be on sale at select private liquor stores in BC for a limited time. It will also be available to sample on draught during a launch event at the Phillips brewery this Thursday March 17th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
