CALGARY, ON – A new brewery focused on producing traditional and classic German beer styles is set to release its first beer in Calgary this week.

Brauerei Fahr has been founded by former biotech engineer and award-winning homebrewer Jochen Fahr, who is currently raising funds to open a brewery and taproom in Turner Valley, a small town southwest of Calgary.

In the meantime, Fahr has partnered with Calgary’s Tool Shed Brewing to brew and release Fahr Away Hefeweizen, which is described as follows:

Fahr Away is a very refreshing, light, and well-balanced beer that is a delight to drink. This Hefeweizen is perfectly suited to summer patio time but can easily be enjoyed year round due to its balance of sweetness and crispness. The Weihenstephan yeast used in this brew imparts banana and clove aromas and flavors naturally.

Fahr Away will be officially launched this Friday March 18th at 1600 Bier Haus, and it will also be appearing on tap at other bars and restaurants in Calgary in coming days.

Fahr plans to introduce two additional flagship brands in the future – A Little Too Fahr Pilsner and Old Fahrt Altbier – and he will also be collaborating with Wild Rose Brewery to create a maibock that will be served at an event celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reinheitsgebot on April 23rd.
