SHERBROOKE, QC – CBC News reports that Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke will be offering a graduate certificate program in Brewing Science starting this fall.

Created by associate chemistry professor Dale Wood (pictured above), the program will “look at the very complex science underlying the four ingredients in beer – water, malt, hops, and yeast”, and will also include a business course to cover the non-brewing aspects of the industry.

Due to the strongly scientific nature of the curriculum, only students who have completed biology and chemistry degrees will be accepted into the new graduate program.

Woods has already been teaching several brewing courses to undergraduates for the past few years, with the beer brewed in a small on-campus brewery called Bishop’s Arches bring sold to students, faculty and staff at the university since last summer.
