CALGARY, AB – Alberta beer news site The Daily Beer reports that Calgary’s newest small brewery launched last month, and is already getting ready to expand.
Boiling Oar Brewing was founded by homebrewer Mark Zemlak, who is currently brewing on a 7 hectolitre brewhouse installed in a warehouse space owned by an electronics repair company that his family runs.
The brewery has two core brands – Kölsch (5% abv/20 IBU) and Pale Ale (6% abv/38 IBU) – that are available on tap at several bars and pubs, including Craft Beer Market and National on 17th. Current accounts have the brewery running at full capacity, so Zemlak is planning to expand production within the current space, and will also be launching bottles for liquor store sales.
