BAYSVILLE, ON – Lake of Bays Brewing has announced that it has suspended sales and distribution operations in Alberta in reaction to the changes introduced last year that have greatly increased the amount of tax paid by out-of-province breweries.

In a statement announcing the withdrawal, the brewery notes that the tariff increase from 10 or 20 cents per litre to $1.25 per litre proved to be too costly, and after several months at the new rates it is no longer viable for it to continue business in the province.

All stock remaining in the province has been liquidated, and the two Lake of Bays sales reps in Alberta have been laid off.
