CORBYVILLE, ONThe Belleville Intelligencer reports that an historic community in Central Ontario with a connection to one of Canada’s longest running alcohol companies will soon be home to a new craft brewery.

Signal Brewery is being established by local businessman Richard Courneyea in Corbyville, a town now part of the city of Belleville that was the original home of the Corby Distillery.

The brewery is currently under construction in several former distillery buildings that have been vacant for nearly three decades. At a city planning committee meeting held yesterday, Courneyea indicated that work is around 50 per cent complete, and he hopes that the brewery will be operational by October.

In addition to the brewery, the complex is planned to include a retail store selling Signal beer along with products from other local producers and artisans, a tasting area with patio overlooking the Moira River, and an events space. The future addition of a distilling operation has also been mentioned as a possibility.
