CALGARY, AB – Village Brewery has announced the release of a new beer that will mark Alberta’s upcoming birthday while also benefiting one of the province’s historic landmarks.

Village Rancher is a limited edition Saison named in honour of William Roper Hull, a legendary cattleman at Bow Valley Ranche who was also one of the founders of Alberta’s first brewery.

The beer is described as follows:

Village Rancher is a Belgian Saison that is true to style with some added spices for complexity. Aside from the regular ingredients of Canadian Pilsner malt, Wheat, Vienna and Munich, we have added whirlpool additions of Grains of Paradise, Pink Peppercorns and Orange Peel. The resulting beer provides a deep background of grassy notes from malt and noble hops with a front-loaded flavour rich in spice from the yeast. At 5.5% alc/vol, this 21 IBU ale is well suited to our Albertan summers (assuming it is going to be summer).

Village Rancher will make its debut this Saturday July 23rd at 7K Panorama Ranch, a ranch outside of Calgary that also serves as a hub for celebrating local food and drink and the people who produce it.

Proceeds from its sales will go toward the Ranche at Fish Creek Restoration Society, the organization that operates the Bow Valley Ranche, where Village Rancher will also be pouring on September 1st as part of the celebrations of Alberta’s 111th birthday.
