OTTAWA, ON – Ottawa-based craft beer delivery and brewery tour service Brew Donkey has announced that it will be discontinuing its delivery operations at the end of this year.
As explained in a statement on the Brew Donkey website:
In almost 3 years of operation there have been many changes to the AGCO’s laws for the good of craft yet the core requirements and limitations relating to delivery services are still quite prohibitive. […] We have recently come to realise that running an affordable and profitable delivery service focusing on craft producers is no longer something that we can offer and will be closing the delivery service by the end of 2016. This choice is being made so that we can now focus all of our attention on the the tour service, the business of bringing people to local producers so they can explore the products first hand. The recently announced news that the AGCO is now delivering through Canada Post further supports our decision to make the switch to solely operating as a tour company.
As noted in the final sentence above, the company will continue to offer tours to breweries in the Ottawa and Kitchener-Waterloo regions. Full details on these are available on the Brew Donkey website.
