NYANZA, NS – Jeremy White of Big Spruce Brewing has written an open letter to the province of Nova Scotia pushing against what he sees as “bureaucratic complacency, political status quo, and archaic legislation [that] are stifling the N.S. Craft Beer industry.”

In the letter, which has been published as an opinion piece in the Chronicle Herald newspaper, White offers 10 areas where he feels improvements are needed, including:

  • Lifting the legislation that limits brewery tasting rooms to pouring no more than 4 ounces per serving.
  • Allowing Nova Scotia breweries to operate more than one retail location.
  • Implementing a Nova Scotia Craft Beer section at NSLC stores.
  • Standardizing remit rates paid to the government by small breweries to make them more equitable to those paid by wineries and distilleries.
  • and several more.

For the full list and more details, see the letter on the Chronicle Herald website.
