Big Spruce Releases Beer Made With 100% Nova Scotia Ingredients

bigspruce_onehundred

NYANZA, NS The Atlantic Canada Beer Blog reports that Big Spruce Brewing has released what is believed to be the first commercial beer brewed using organic ingredients produced entirely in Nova Scotia.

One Hundred is described as follows by the brewery:

Organic barley from Taproot Farms, organic rye from Stewart’s Organics (both malted at Horton Ridge Malt & Grain Co. in Wolfville), organic Goldings and Willamette hops from Breton Fields (our farm here at the brewery), our well water and our own proprietary yeast harvested from the surface of a wild Eastern Canadian Pin Cherry that grew on our farm. Distinctly Belgian, dry and crisp, with spicy notes from the rye malt, this beer weighs in at 4.9% and 24 IBU.

Big Spruce One Hundred is available now for growler fills at the brewery, and on tap at select pubs in Nova Scotia while supplies last.
