Vancouver Island Brewing Reveals Rebranding & New Beer Line-up

VICTORIA, BC – At launch events held in Victoria and Vancouver earlier this week, veteran B.C. craft brewery Vancouver Island Brewing unveiled a radical makeover that includes a whole new look for its beers and branding.

The core line-up for the brewery now features seven brands – some reformulated and renamed, some entirely new – including the following:

19 IPA (4.8% abv) – “A full-flavored beer with a silky malt backbone and a bright hop profile of tropical fruit, and citrus – it packs all the taste of an IPA with much more friendly alcohol content.”

Juan De Fuca Cerveza (4.8% abv) – “A craft take on a Mexican classic. Unlike its import competitors this beer has complexity coming from premium grain, malt and hop varieties.”

Sombrio Citrus Session Ale (4.0% abv) – “Noticeable hop content, and tons of bright flavour thanks to the proprietary blend of citrus zests added to each batch.”

The Victoria Lager (4.8% abv) – “This pale golden lager exhibits a classic clean character with notes of biscuity malts. Bitterness is akin to a German Pilsner with an aromatic aroma.”

Piper’s Pale Ale (4.8% abv) – “Pub beer perfection, this complex and biscuity pale ale is our tribute to the legendary Piper Richardson.”

Carmanah Ale (4.8% abv) – “Piney and resinous, this Pacific Northwest amber ale’s flavour is as deep as a forest of sitka spruces.”

48 Dark Lager (4.8% abv) – “In honour of our original brewmaster Hermann Hoerterer, who brewed our first batch of beer in 1984.”

The brewery has also provided the following background information about the new and reformulated beers:

Vancouver Island Brewery has put a lot of effort in ensuring the beers are of the best quality available. A new mill will allow for more efficient grain use and a state of the art Gruber Growler filler, known to be the only one in Canada, will a see a decrease in fill time so the brewery can serve customers faster. All beers will be vegan. This is only possible because of their state of the art centrifuge, which eliminates the filtering process, removing the use of filtering agents which can sometimes use products like isinglass which is made from fish bladder.

The new VI line-up is available in a variety of formats, including cans, bottles and on draught, at retail stores and select bars throughout British Columbia.
