Backcountry Brewing Now Open in Squamish

SQUAMISH, BC – The recent flurry of brewery openings in British Columbia continued this past weekend with the opening of a new brewery and taproom in Squamish.

Backcountry Brewing has been established by a group of five partners, including head brewer John Folinsbee (ex-Steamworks), and Ben Reeder, co-owner of Maple Bay Hop Farm where many of the hops used in Backcountry’s beers will be grown.

Following a soft opening late last week, Backcountry officially opened on April 1st, and is pouring glasses, flights and growlers of several beers including East Coast IPA, American Pale Ale, and German Pilsner. In addition to a core line-up of five or six bands, Folinsbee plans to offer a rotation of seasonal and limited edition beers in a variety of styles.

Along with the brewery and the 50-seat taproom, the 6000-square-foot facility also features a kitchen that is serving a selection of pizzas, salads and snacks.

Backcountry Brewing is located at 405-1201 Commercial Way in Squamish, and is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:00 to 10:00 PM, Thursday from 3:00 to 11:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 12:00 noon to 11:00 PM, and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 10:00 PM.
