Nickel Brook Brewing Confirms Initial Plans for Destination Brewery in Niagara Region

BURLINGTON, ON – Following on last week’s statement from Collective Arts Brewing announcing that it is taking sole ownership of the Arts & Science facility in Hamilton, departing partner Nickel Brook Brewing has provided more details on its future expansion plans.

Nickel Brook is planning to build a “new, state-of-the-art brewery” in the Niagara Region in order to meet the increasing demand for its beers, and to provide a destination experience for beer drinkers and tourists in the region. Early plans for the new location include “a sizeable barrel room, separate funk and ‘clean’ facilities, foeders, a proper tap room and events space, restaurant and more.”

“The new brewery we’ve envisioned is going to be a place where people will want to spend the day, and where we can brew even more exciting beers than we’re already making,” says Nickel Brook co-founder and president John Romano. “The Arts & Science partnership was a good way for both us and Collective Arts to expand production capacity, but our long term vision is to offer customers a full craft experience where they can enjoy fresh Nickel Brook beer along with amazing food, education, events and more. This facility will allow for all of that.”

Core and seasonal brands from Nickel Brook will continue to be brewed at the Arts & Science facility for two years while the new brewery is built, and the original Nickel Brook brewery in Burlington will remain in operation as a “Funk Lab” specializing in more experimental and limited run beers. Brewmaster Ryan Morrow and Head of Barrel Management Patrick Howell will both remain with the company, eventually overseeing operations at both the Burlington and Niagara facilities.

More details on the expansion will follow in coming months.
