TORONTO, ON – Ontario Craft Brewers, the trade association representing more than 80 of Ontario’s small and independent breweries, has announced that Scott Simmons will be assuming the position of president effective today (August 8th).
Simmons has more than three decades of leadership experience in several industries, including a stint as vice president, marketing and business development for The Beer Store from 2001 to 2007. Most recently, he spent ten years as CEO of Golf Canada.
“This is a very exciting time for the craft brewing industry,” says Simmons in a statement. “I look forward to working with an organization that contributes so much to the Ontario economy in terms of jobs, investment and premium quality, local craft beer.”
Simmons takes over the position from departing president John Hay, who founded the OCB and has served as its leader since 2003.
