Backstage Brewing Opening Soon in Stellarton, NS

STELLARTON, NSThe Atlantic Canada Beer Blog reports that a new brewery is getting set to open soon in Stellarton, a small town near New Glasgow in Nova Scotia.

Backstage Brewing is being opened by A.J. Leadbetter, his wife Beth, and her parents, Lynn and Wayne MacDonald in a building at 37 Bridge Ave. that housed a paint shop owned by Leadbetter’s family until it was damaged by fire in 2015.

Now repaired and refurbished, the facility will include a brewery as well as a taproom that will pour several Backstage brands and a selection of beers from other Nova Scotia breweries, as well as local wine and cider.

Beers planned to be available at opening or soon after include the following:

Daydreamer is a pale ale that comes in at 4.8% and 21 IBU. Hangover Helper is an American Pale, 5.3% and 40 IBU; light-bodied and packed with flavor. Headliner is big juicy IPA. It’s 6.3% and 60 IBU. Gemini is a DIPA. 8% and 100+ IBU. It’s big! It’s bitter! And surprisingly easy to drink! Nunmoar Black IPA is 6.6% and 75 IBU. Roasted, Hoppy, and Black. How much more black can it be? None.

Backstage Brewing is expected to soft launch in early September. For more details, see the full ACCB article, a recent profile in the Pictou County Advocate, and the brewery’s Facebook page.
