Beau’s Continues Ottawa 2017 Series with Half Pints Collaboration

VANKLEEK HILL, ON – Beau’s All Natural Brewing has announced details for the latest in its monthly series of collaborative beers being released as part of the brewery’s partnership with Ottawa 2017.

Killer Kvass was created in collaboration with Winnipeg’s Half Pints Brewing, and is described as follows:

The beer is a twist on Eastern European kvass, which is a traditional fermented beverage made from dried rye bread, and flavoured with fruits, raisins or herbs. To create this beer, both Beau’s and Half Pints drew inspiration from Winnipeg’s large Eastern European population and culture. Since kvass typically has an ABV of 1 % or lower, Killer Kvass is (somewhat ironically) “imperialized” at 2.5%. Seventy kilograms of certified organic rye bread croutons went into the brew, which was then flavoured with organic lemon peel and organic raisins.

The announcement also notes that due to the difficulty Beau’s had finding a sufficient quantity of fully organic rye bread, a local baker was commissioned to come into the Beau’s kitchen to bake, slice, and dry the bread for the brew.

As with all beers in the Beau’s Ottawa 2017 series, a portion of sales will be donated to a charity, with the recipient in this case being D’Arcy’s A.R.C., a local animal rescue centre in Winnipeg .

Killer Kvass is available now at the Beau’s taproom, retail store and delivery service, as well as select bars and restaurants in Ontario. A limited number of bottles will also be available in October at select Liquor Mart locations in Manitoba.
