BURLINGTON, ON – Nickel Brook Brewery has announced the release date and other details for this year’s vintage of one of the most anticipated variants of its Bolshevik Bastard Imperial Stout.
Café Del Bastardo (11.9% abv) is a sub-edition of the bourbon barrel aged Kentucky Bastard that has spent an additional four months resting on coffee beans from Detour Coffee Roasters. The result is described as follows:
Nickel Brook worked closely with the roasting team at Detour to craft a custom roast to complement the flavours of the beer. Adding six pounds of whole-bean coffee to a select few Kentucky Bastard barrels results in a rich, creamy brew with notes of roasty coffee, vanilla and a bright fruitiness.
The 2018 edition of Café Del Bastardo will be released at the Nickel Brook brewery store on Saturday January 27th in a limited run of 500 ml bottles. It will also be available at select LCBO locations and licensees in Ontario starting the week of January 29th.
