Phillips Brewing Releases 2018 Benefit Brews & Brings Back Space Goat

VICTORIA, BC – Phillips Brewing has announced the release of the two winning beers from the Benefit Brew 2018 competition, as well as an annual seasonal brand that has “floated back into orbit.”

The Benefit Brew release for British Columbia is BC SPCA Wild ARC Honey IPA (6.7% abv), which will raise funds to help the BC SPCA Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre provide care to injured, orphaned and sick animals before returning them to the wild. The beer will be available in private beer stores in B.C., and is described as follows:

This tasty special release pours a pale honey with an off white head. Rich notes of honey mingle with pronounced fresh hop like aromas. A full bodied mouthfeel with honey malt sweetness leads into a bold citrus hop profile. The use of Canadian honey yields a dry finish creating a very approachable IPA.

In Alberta, Benefit Brew supporters will be able to pick up Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary West Coast ESB (5.8% abv) in support of Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary to help them rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned and displaced wolfdogs. The beer has the following notes:

This custom brew pours a deep amber with a slight off white head. Aromas of pine and citrus lead to a soft grassiness with notes of toasted biscuit and a slight chocolate finish. The subtle hop bitterness is rounded out by a clean finish.

Finally, Space Goat Dry Hopped Oat Pale Ale is back for a third year, and is described as follows:

This adventurous brew is an oat pale ale that is generously dry-hopped, infusing tropical and citrus hop notes with a deep, silky oat ale texture. Pouring a golden straw colour, the nose is full of fresh papaya and guava. A round graininess is softened with a silky mouth feel provided by the oats, with subtle sweetness balanced against a wonderful tropical hop background.

Space Goat will be available at private beer stores in B.C. for a limited time.
