WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes have announced that they will be offering beers from a variety of local breweries in a new Craft Beer Corner at Shaw Park, the stadium where the American Association Baseball team plays its home games.
Currently under construction and set to open in time for the 2018 season, the 1,400-square-foot deck will be accessible to all game attendees, and will feature stand up tables and chairs that provide a view of the entire stadium.
The beer selection in the Corner will feature six taps, two of which will be reserved for beers from the Labatt/AB InBev-owned Mill Street and Goose Island brands, and two for Fort Garry Brewing, which has had a partnership with the Goldeyes for more than a decade and produces the official team beer, Angry Fish Pilsner.
The remaining pair of taps will rotate through five other local breweries throughout the season, with the following planned schedule:
One Great City Brewing – May 25th-31st, June 8th-10th
Little Brown Jug Brewing – June 11th-13th, June 18th-20th, June 25th-28th
Barn Hammer Brewing – June 29th-30th & July 1st, July 9th-15th
Torque Brewing – July 24th-29th, August 3rd-6th
Farmery Estate Brewery – August 7th-8th, August 17th-19th, August 27th-31st

- Greg C. is drinking a Bourbon Barrel Aged Dark Saison by Mascot Brewery at King & DufferinPromising aroma with notes of spice, dark fruit, oak & vanilla. Flavour starts in the same direction but lacks depth and finishes light.
- Greg C. is drinking a Trappist Holiday Ale by Spencer Brewery at King & Dufferin1+ year old bottle. Aroma of port and spice, notes that follow in the flavour plus cherry & menthol. Some booze heat despite the age. Nice.
- Greg C. is drinking an Oude Geuze (Vieille) by Brouwerij Oud Beersel at King & DufferinNot as lip-puckeringly sour or mind-bendingly complex as some lambics, but still an old fave that I always enjoy.
- Greg C. is drinking a No Love Lost Sour Cherry Saison by Mascot Brewery at King & DufferinDelivers what the name promises - a rather good Saison laced with sour cherry that is unmistakably present but not overpowering.
- Greg C. is drinking a Coffee Oatmeal Stout by Bellwoods Brewery at King & DufferinSurprisingly good for a 20-month-old bottle. Coffee is still nice & punchy, good notes of chocolate, oats & nuts in the background.
