Last Castle Brewing in Port Stanley, Ontario Announces Hiatus

PORT STANLEY, ONThe London Free Press reports a nano-brewery that opened in the small community of Port Stanley two years ago has gone on hiatus.

Last Castle Brewing was founded by brewmaster Aidan Norton of Railway City Brewing and herb farmer Stephen Hotchkiss to create “rustic farmhouse and wild ales inspired by tradition and the bountiful countryside in Ontario’s Southwest.”

Last Castle was located in The New New Age, a bistro and market owned by Stephen and his wife Katie, and produced beer in 100 litre batches that were served exclusively on-site.

The hiatus was announced on Facebook earlier this week, and while no reason was given for the closure, the post did note that the brewery “may pop up again sometime.”
