Goose Island Toronto Brewhouse Launches Barrel-Aged Series with Mature Situations Belgian Tripel

TORONTO, ON Goose Island Brewhouse Toronto has announced details of the first in a planned series of barrel-aged beers to be released exclusively at the brewpub.

Mature Situations (9.7% abv) is described as follows:

This Belgian Tripel went into Niagara Pinot Noir barrels and came out as something else entirely. Born from a recipe that was one of the first that Marc & Bern came up with together during their first visit to Chicago, the beer was racked onto 60lbs of blackberries, 3kg of buckwheat honey and 300g of hand-zested lemon peel per barrel in addition to being inoculated with Brettanomyces Bruxellensis yeast.  After a lengthy period of secondary fermentation and conditioning, it came out of the barrel pouring a deep rose gold with a nose of blackberry jam, bright citrus and that classic Brett B. funk. It is fruity and funky on the palate, with plenty of oak character and a refreshing acidity.

Mature Situations will be released today (May 16th) at Goose Island Toronto, where it will be available on tap and in 750 ml wax-dipped swing-top bottles while supplies last.
