Beau’s Brewing Brings Back 49° 54° Fogo Island Gose

VANKLEEK HILL, ON – Beau’s All Natural Brewing has announced the return of a beer that was originally released last year as part of a series of collaborations marking Canada’s 150th birthday.

Created in collaboration with Fogo Island Inn in Newfoundland, 49° 54° (6.7% abv, 35 IBU) is a gose that is described as follows:

Named for the approximate latitude and longitude of Fogo, the recipe includes Newfoundland partridgeberries gathered from the island, and sea salt collected from its shores. The beer is spiced with Fogo-sourced torrified birch bark, and some of the malt was smoked with what islanders call myrrh: a hardened tree sap gathered from the conifers that are part of its rugged and starkly beautiful landscape. The result is a certified organic craft beer that authentically taps into the terroir of the largest of the offshore islands of Newfoundland and Labrador.

49° 54° will be available starting tomorrow (October 25th) until January 2019 in 600 ml bottles at the Beau’s brewery store, LCBO stores in Ontario, depanneurs and grocery stores in Quebec, and select bars and restaurants in both provinces. Partial proceeds will support the Shorefast Foundation, a charity dedicated to “strengthening the communities, cultural heritage and local economy of Fogo Island.”
