Slackwater Brewing Now Open in Penticton

PENTICTON, BC – British Columbia’s newest craft brewery is now open in Penticton.

Slackwater Brewing has been co-founded by Kelsey and Liam Peyton, with a team that also includes brewmaster Chris Vandenberg (formerly at Powell Brewing and Postmark Brewing), executive chef Ben Overland, and finance & operations manager Jason Mathews.

Originally planned to be called Hatchery Brewing until a recent legal dispute forced a name change, Slackwater features a large two-level bar and restaurant that is described as follows:

Making full use of both levels of the building, Slackwater’s ground floor plays host to a large, open taproom wrapping around its brewery with a stage for live music and garage doors leading to a streetside patio. Upstairs a parlour games lounge, dining room, rooftop patio and private dining room all get their own double-sided bar looking down onto brewmaster Chris Vandenberg’s custom built 10 hectolitre brewing system. It’s look is clean, modern and bright with hits of water-colour tones and wood throughout, a collaboration with designer Jennifer Robinson of Guerard’s Fine Furniture.

Beers currently available on tap include Tight Lines Helles Lager (5% abv, 17 IBU), Angler’s Tale West Coast Pale Ale (5.2% abv, 25 IBU), What the Fog?! NEIPA (6.8% abv, 45 IBU), Serenity Saison (4.8% abv, 27 IBU), Nickle Plate Grisette (3.8% abv, 9 IBU), Idleback Amber Ale (5% abv, 25 IBU), and Sawmill DDH Sour IPA (6.5% abv, 0 IBU). Several guest taps, a seasonal cask, cider, and local wines are also featured.

Slackwater Brewing is located at 218 Martin St. in Penticton, and is open from 12:00 noon to 10:00 PM Sunday to Thursday, and 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM Friday and Saturday. For more details, see the brewery’s Facebook page.
