Two Sergeants Brewing Closes Edmonton Brewery & Taproom

EDMONTON, AB – Two Sergeants Brewing has announced with “profound sadness” that it has gone out of business and permanently closed its brewery and taproom in Edmonton.

Two Sergeants was launched in 2015 in Fort Saskatchewan, a small community northeast of Edmonton, by partners Kevin Moore and Keith Edwards. The company started as a contract brewer before opening a small brewery and tasting room which was in operation until early 2018 when Edwards left the partnership and Moore announced plans to move to Edmonton.

Those plans hit a snag due to zoning issues with the new location, but the brewery and taproom finally opened in late 2018. However, brewing operations were halted and the taproom closed last month with an announcement on Facebook indicating that it was “due to factors beyond our control including a very cold summer and licensing issues with the city.”

While the September closure was intended to be temporary while the business was being re-structured, a statement was released last Friday indicating that it would be a permanent shutdown due to “zoning and bureaucratic delays [that] prevented us from reaching our full potential,” as well as a “loss of investor confidence [that] has placed us in a position where it became financially impossible to continue.”
