WINNIPEG, MB – The new Winnipeg location of Lake of the Woods Brewing that was announced this past summer with an expected late 2019 opening has been delayed, and will now open in early 2020.
The brewery and taproom will be located in Hargrave St. Market, a food hall development in True North Square that is opening the rest of its restaurants and retailers tomorrow (December 13th).
The brewery delay is explained in a Winnipeg Free Press report on the Market opening:
Lake of the Woods […] is spread throughout many floors of True North Square, with milling facilities on the third floor, tanks on the second floor, the brewery and tap room on the ground floor and even some machinery housed in the lower level parking garage. As such, getting the 2,000-hectolitre brewery up and running in a 17-storey mixed-use downtown tower has been more of a challenge than president Taras Manzie could have predicted.
The Winnipeg brewery will be the third location for Lake of the Woods, following the original Kenora, Ontario brewpub that opened in 2013, and a cross-border expansion that opened earlier this year in Warroad, Minnesota.

(NOTE: The original version of this article stated that Lake of the Woods would be opening on December 13th along with the rest of the Hargrave St. Market, but that information was based on an unclear report from another news organization. This was clarified by Ben MacPhee-Sigurdson of the Winnipeg Free Press. CBN apologizes for the error.]
